This is the second album from these German headbangers, and features good and ripping Power Metal. Musically the band toils in the realms of Primal Fear, Hammerfall, Dream Evil, and Rage, with themes along the same lines. There's lots of galloping and double-bass rhythms to be had, with thick guitars and Priest-like solos the norm. Good stuff, I say! Vocally, think of Jurgen Volk as a slightly deeper Tobias Sammet, perhaps.
"Return of the Dragon" is a strong opener, with the constant "Diary in Black" providing a high-wired chorus. "Barons Overthrow" is steady and pulsing, "Brothers in Arms" and "Metal War" are of the faster variety, and all of "The Machine," "Evil in Man," "Dragonheart," and "Resistance" are good. "Six Feet From the Edge" is a slower/lighter track, and has a strong, pulling chorus.

Jeff Ulmer, the singing landscaper from Canada and at the same time commander of the Metal spaceship SACRED BLADE is not exactly known to feed his few, but all the more fervent followers musical titbits on an inflationary rate. Not that his creations were bad, God no, but for almost 20 years the "Of The Sun + Moon" long player is the only official cruiser of the spheres. If there was not the Reborn Classics bootleg of "Seven Moonz Of Xercez" out there, one would not know what to do.
Now under the banner OTHYRWORLD and the title "Beyond Into The Night Of Day" we get a new sign of life of the singer. New? Yes and no, not really, because it is only the already mentioned "Of The Sun + Moon" album that’s been completely re-recorded and production wise slightly bettered. OK, this way he might be able to reach new fans, but the old maniacs would more than deserve a really new masterpiece, right Jeff? Anyways, on “Beyond ..." we get finest, cleverly devised Heavy Metal that you have all missed for so long. Demanding and super catchy at the same time. Technically perfect and with divine melody lines you just have to get this. Right now! Immediately!! Avanti!!!
OTHYRWORLD and SACRED BLADE are immune to comparisons, but who counts FIFTH ANGEL, WARLORD, EMERALD (US), TITAN FORCE... among their favourite has to get this CD. Has? Has!!! You will get a perfect jewel that you will not want to let go anymore.

What I love regarding bands like PARAGON is that you get what you want exactly: nothing more or less than Heavy fuckin’ Metal. If it’s the German way, it’s even better. Nuff said...
This is the new PARAGON album, "Screenslaves". This is not major news for the Metal community since it’s not ’bout monumental bands like METALLICA or IRON MAIDEN or JUDAS PRIEST and ’wannabe’ trends like NIGHTWISH or SLIPKNOT or don’t-know-who’s-considered-Metal else. PARAGON performs an in-your-face aamalgam of ACCEPT and GRAVE DIGGER, with a minor touch of IRON MAIDEN and the likes of ’direct pounding’ US Metal. Being around since 1990, they were unlucky enough to get signed to some B.O. Records and Remedy Records labels; meaning, near-zero promotion.
Thankfully, a premier label got hold of these magnificent warriors and the PARAGON merciless assault is coming straight at you. I don’t know if Martin Christian still writes most of the band’s songs, but again there’s a wide feeling of ’Metal fist’ music that shall grab you by the balls and will not let you go by any means until the album’s audition is over. Still reading? If you’re ’into’ PARAGON why wasting time since you’ll buy the album anyway?
Because the lucky metalheads familiar with this honest German bands are the minority in an era of ’fake’ Metal trends. PARAGON does not care, anyway. Steamroller riffs, pounding drums, thunderous bass, various tempos (slow, mid, fast, up), GRAVE DIGGER-ish vocals, a RUNNING WILD neatness, the ghost of ACCEPT blessing each note...and the rest is obvious. The production is striking, with volume and equilibrium in the mix, the cover artwork is nothing impressive but it may relate to some/any lyrics maybe (the asongtitles are kinda unusual for the PARAGON tradition), the BACKSTREET BOYS cover is awesome (already out on CD single since August 2008) and the Italian version of "The Legacy" (from 2003’s "The Dark Legacy" album) can be reviewed as "funny Japanese" (Satan bless the English langusage!) ...
Produced by Uwe Lulis (REBELLION, GRAVE DIGGER), "Screenslaves" is not a ’true Metal’ album as (maybe) assumed. Nope, it’s a Heavy Metal album you cannot resist if into Metal music. Nothing to hide, this is another dissent PARAGON release that stands tall defending the Metal ideals. That simple; it’s you to look in the mirror and count your trust. PARAGON - in low profile and high ’steel’ quality - takes no prisoners.

Majesty is a German Heavy Metal band that plays strongly 80s-influenced metal, and they're damn good at it. This first, independently released album can be described as a 41 minutes hymn to metal, not without reminding one of Manowar without the "better than you" attitude that pisses me off in Manowar. Being an independent release, the album suffers a little bit on the production, but it's still surprisingly good. The album is made up of 8 songs and they all shine by their quality. I still can't figure out whose voice the singer reminds me off, although there are some parts on the album where I was a little bit reminded of Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell II type of singing (coming from me, that's a good thing - just pointing that out). I have absolutely no complaints about the vocals on this album, they fit the music perfectly and his voice is just great.
All song are rockers except for the seventh, We Will Ride, a very good ballad that ranks up there with the best. The last song, Last Revolution is the least metal-centric of the album, recounting a revolution against the king. I didn't like the opening riff on that one, but that lasts only a couple of seconds and as soon as the singing starts, all is forgotten and you're in for one of the best songs of the album.
Majesty say it themselves, they don't innovate much and it's not their goal. They just play the music they love. When a band is so good at it, I have absolutely no problem with that. Hail to Majesty!

Prepare to be metalized! It's amazing what a band can do to you. What is it that makes you rock your brains out and gives you the maximum amount of relaxation. Yes indeed Dark Avenger did that all to me. Those Brasilian guys got their latest effort ready to release.
Thirty minutes of Heavy/Power metal alternated with a lot of classical movements. They managed to create an epic-album which is full of contrasts like heavy versus classical and up-paced versus mid/slow-paced. It?s not only that which is making "X Dark Years" a tremendous piece of art. When you?re talking about powermetal vocalists a lot of us are thinking about castrated men, I know it?s true but Mario, their vocalist does a lot more than iiiiaaaaaaachs? His power lays in his mid-tone voice and off course his high pitch voice. It's all done with great enthusiasm and professionalism.
X Dark Years contains five songs, these songs are different from each other in style and sphere, it's like reading a book. The first song "Dark Avenger" starts with an eerie classical movement which explodes after almost two minutes into a pumpin' staccato rhythm. Some of you know this song already from the album "The Dark Avenger" but this is a completely rearranged one. This is really a song which causes you chicken skin. Sensitive and explosive in once. The next song ?Caladvwch? is a semi classical ballad which is completely guided with classical instruments like a violin and classical guitars. It's a very melodic ballad but the duration is a bit to long and somewhere at the end of the ballad you suddenly got the urge to push the forward button. It's a little minus. "Utther Evil pt 1" and "Utther evil pt 2" are song three respectively song four of this MCD. Utther Evil pt 1 starts with a bombastic piece of piano which is showing the high-standard capabilities of Thomas Galuf. This is even better then the Manowar piano movements. After this classical - see it as an intro - piece of work part two starts it's diesel engines. It reminds me to Zed Yago due to the guitars and the sometimes rasped intonations of Mario. They made a point with that. The final song, ?Unleash Hell? is as predictable their most aggressive kind of song. Pounding drums and galloping riffs are raging through the song, fortunately it's not all up-paced cause the mid-part is reserved for a solo. Unleash Hell can be described as a sort of Mike Murphy meets Timo Kotipelto song.

The second chapter in the epic tale of metal conquests and such. Putting Manowar to shame with their dedication to metal and their themes or all things heavy metal. Really there isn't a song on this disc that doesn't deal with the conquests of heavy metal. The music is fast and furious, the solos shred, the drums are pummelling and the lyrics are over-the-top ridiculous. While I have no doubt that this band is serious in their dedication to true heavy metal, their lyrics are obviously tongue-in-cheek and not to be taken seriously. "These guys must read Manowar lyrics like they were the Bible." As usual, most negative criticism with this band falls with their singer's unique sound and style. Personally, I like him. If nothing else, he is quite a bit different from the lot of power metal singers and has an interesting way of ennunciating certain syllables and words. Overall, as with the band's debut, I enjoy the bands enthusiasm, their metal attitude and their overall style.
